CHOOSING YOUR SUBJECTS AND CREATING YOUR STUDY PLAN
The University’s Handbook includes details of all the subjects offered at the University. Navigate through via the links in your ‘course structure’ tab (see links above) to see details of each of the subjects available in your course, to help you make an informed decision about which subjects to choose.
You may have compulsory subjects you are required to take, as well as elective subjects you can choose from. Some courses have a strict or strongly recommended sequence in which to take subjects, while others are more flexible.
Your study plan is where you enrol in your subjects. Remember, you must enrol in subjects for the entire calendar year. Login to my.unimelb to access your study plan.
HOW MANY SUBJECTS SHOULD I ENROL IN?
Most 12.5 credit point subjects have an expected workload of between 12 and 20 hours per week (depending on your course). Therefore, part-time study would consist of enrolling in only one subject per term, while full-time is two subjects per term.
If you would like to take some time off from study you may wish to consider a leave of absence. Failure to either have approved leave or be enrolled in at least one subject in each half year may result in cancellation of your course enrolment.
